When you spend your advance to upgrade your operating system you can choose a new mod or increase a current mod's tier by 1. You must spend the mod's resource cost to choose or upgrade a mod.

You can assign an additional tick per tier to downtime projects to acquire CODE. You start with a tier-1 sprite companion.

You can develop exploits of a tier equal to this mod's tier as a crafting project.

○ ○ ○ Firewall (2 TECH, 1 CODE)

Tier-1: You gain armor(1) against consequences suffered from actions in the MESH.
